Mom, We love our cheese and cheese knife!

Thank you so much Mom Schein, for sharing such a beautiful heritage story with me! I'm looking forward to continuing the tradition!

Look Kathie....we can use your awesome recipes with the new Pizza stone Jonathan got me. Yum.

All the gifts are open and ready to enjoy. Thank you!

You know you're married when....you get each other the same thing.

Twice! Well, actually I this one Jon got for himself while he had the same thing under the tree...for shame, for shame.

Though Jon and I may not be close geographically this year, we want you, our friends and family, to know you are always close and dear to our hearts. We would like to share our holidays with you and hope you enjoy walking with us through the past few weeks for Christmas Shenanigans.
Merry Christmas! We Love You!

A Day of Remembrance

I spent a quiet day at home today. It was nice to get a few things done around the house and relax with Jon, but I found my mind wandering back again and again to what this day truly means for Americans and Canadians alike. It's a day to think about the freedoms we have and the men and women who have helped us keep them. It's good to fight for something worthy and this freedom I get to experience everyday, though often take for granted, is definitely something I cherished a bit more today as I thought of the countless people in this world who don't have such luxuries.

The Dark Side of Time Changes

Although I love getting that extra hour of sweet sleep every fall as the time change rolls around, I hate how the darkness comes so quickly that first day. It's only 8:30 and I'm ready to curl up in a ball and sleep my life away. I hope whoever reads this is having a better time adjusting then I am.

Pumpkin Carving on the Lake

When I walked into a local pumpkin lot to ask for 25 pumpkins last weekend, the gentleman at the back of the bins laughed in dis-belief, but gladly obliged in filling his wheel barrels full of orange goodness. Now, why would I ever need 25 pumpkins. Well, last weekend Jon and I had the pleasure of hosting a day of pumpkin carving on the lake for your church family here in Dartmouth/Halifax. It was a fun, whirlwind sort of afternoon and a great time to get to know some of the families we see each week a bit better. You can tell i don't have kids because I was smart enough to schedule the event right at prime nap time for little ones. Regardless, we had a great turn out and sent an afternoon doing all things fall from drinking hot cider, to carving, to eating to jumping in the leaves. By 4:30 all kids had been tucked back into car seats, leaving Jon and I with quiet house and lots and lots of pumpkin seeds......yum :) Here are a few pictures from the day. I hope you all are finding enjoyment in simple fall pleasures as well.

Canadian Colours

It's amazing how a weekend away can refresh both body mind while simultaneously reminding me of how awesome God is! Jon and I were able to take the long weekend (i.e.: Thanksgiving in Canada) and go camping in Cape Breton. It was a humbling, beautiful time of taking moments as they come and enjoying God beauty at every turn along the way.
There is a famous drive called the Cabot Trail that we've been told time and again to visit during the fall colours. A few weeks ago, we decided to take the plunge and bought a tent and camping gear and set the dates to go. We had an awesome time exploring and spending uninterrupted time together while enjoying God creativity. What a needed trip...now back to reality :)

And So It Begins

I have succumbed to the world of bloggers at last. Why? Simply to write and to share. I look forward to penning the little nothings that happen to me day by day and I hope you find some encouragement, reprieve or at the very least, humor in the thoughts and moments I share.
